It may not be possible to find a cooler vintage chronograph from the 1970s era. This fascinating Bulova Model “C” Chronograph is also known as the “Stars and Stripes” model, and it is easy to see why.  This colorful, funky chrono sports a very large 43mm stainless steel case and Swiss made Valjoux 7736 manual wind movement.  The combination of red hands and contrasting blue/white Dial tells you all you need to know about Its “Stars and Stripes” moniker.

Description

Case:

Solid Stainless Steel Reference 898 Case With Round Pushers to Control the Chronograph.  Original Bulova Signed Crown.  This 2 Piece Bulova Case is Very Unusual in that the Notched Bezel Screws Off to Access the Valjoux Movement Beneath.  For the Chrono, the Top Pusher Starts and Stops the Chronograph While the Bottom Pusher Resets the Counters to Zero. The Case is Signed Outside Bulova Watch Co and NO (Bulova Date Code for 1970).  There are also numbers / words engraved on the rear which are difficult to see.

Original Dial:

Stunning Blue and White Dial with Original Tritium Hour Markers and Matching Luminous Filled Hour and Minute Hands Have Red Arrow Tips While the Chronograph Hands are All Red.  Thirty Minute Register at 3:00 and Constant Seconds at 9:00. 12 Hour Recorder at 6:00. Perimeter Tachymeter and 1/5 Second Graduation. Dial Signed Bulova, T Swiss Made T.

Movement:

The Bulova model 14EC, Base Valjoux 7736 Manual Wind Movement Has Been Cleaned and Is In Excellent Running Condition.  Signed Bulova Watch Co. and has the 1970 Date Code “N0” to match the case.
