What is my watch worth?

We often get asked this question, and the answer is not always simple.  There are many factors to consider when determining the value of any pre-owned watch.  The brand, model, age, rarity, condition are just examples. It is often confusing to find examples on the Internet that vary widely in price.

Contact us and we will try to help.  You can also find books and watch price guides that deal specifically in antique / vintage watch prices.  I can recommend a few below.

A must have for every collector!  This is the 38th edition of the Complete Price Guide to Watches, written by Richard Gilbert, Tom Engle and Cooksey Shugart. This guide is widely regarded as the most comprehensive guide available for American and European wristwatches and pocket watches.  Information is provided for well known names such as Patek Philippe, Rolex, Vacheron & Constantin, Omega, Heuer, Movado ect.  Plus, there are many virtually unknown names here including watchmakers who have been long extinct.  While the photos are not the best, thousands of models are evaluated with variations shown for different case materials such as 14k, 18k, stainless steel, etc.  This guide also contains information on watchmaking history plus educational material as it pertains to mechanical watches and watch collecting, such as how to:

  • Collect on a limited budget
  • Determine the age of your watch
  • Appraise your watch
  • Grade your watch for condition

This book is a valuable resource for any watch collector or anyone who has an interest in the history of vintage watches.
