Large 42mm Stainless Steel Case with Rotating 12 Hour Bezel
Original Dial:
Original Black Dial with Aged Luminous Numbers and Original Matching Luminous Filled Hour and Minute Hands. The White Contrast of the Hands Contrasts Nicely with the Black Dial. The White Paint On The Hands Has Taken On a Nice Creamy Patina. The 15 Minute Register Hand at 3:00 is Also Luminous Filled and Would Have Made The Counter Easy To Read For the Aviator Pilot In Flight.
Movement:
Breitling Modified the Venus 178 to Include a 15 Minute Counter at the 3:00 Dial Position. While Most Triple Register Chronograph Watches Are Equipped with 30 or 45 Minute Counters, The AVI Puts Itself In The Mix With Other 15 Minute Register Chronographs, Most Notably the Breguet Type XX Flyback Watches Of That Period. Breitling Also Made a Highly Sought After Digital Version That Has a 15 Minute Aperture In the 3:00 Position That Looks More Like a Date Window Than a Minute Counter.
