Welsbro / Breitling 765 Features:

This is an early 1940s Breitling made reference 765 chronograph watch sold to, and imported by, The Welsbro Watch Company.  This is the same reference later used by Breitling for their AVI and Co-Pilot model watches in 1953 and later in 1960.  It is always interesting to see how these watches progressed over the years and this watch not only shares a reference number with Breitling 765 AVI Co-Pilot watches, the dial and case back also strongly resemble some Breitling 788 Premier models, similar to this watch sold on Hodinkee here.

Description

Breitling 765 Case:

Large 38.5mm reference 765 stainless steel case with sharp facets and stepped bezel.  The Breitling serial number dates the watch to the early 1940s.  The outside case including the rear print resembles early Breitling 788 Premier models, although this case is 2mm larger.  The inside Case is signed Welsbro Watch Co, Swiss.

Original Dial:

Original Dial with Aged Luminous Numbers and Original Matching Luminous Filled Hour and Minute Hands.  30 minute register at 3:00, 12 hour register at 6:00 and constant seconds at 9:00.  Outer 1/5 second track and tachymeter scale.  The dial is signed Welsbro, Shock Protected and Swiss made.

Movement:

This early Venus 178 Swiss made, manual wind, 17 jewel movement is amazingly clean for its age.  The movement is signed Welsbro Watch Co, Swiss.  There is also the Welsbro Swiss Import Code WXE on the base of the balance.

38.5mm Diameter Excluding the Crown x 45mm Top to Bottom.  21mm Lug Spacing.
